The Value of Friendship

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By Carole Fawcett True friends are one of the gifts we receive as we go through life. They listen, they care, they call or visit when no one else will and they accept us for who we are, warts and all. I have a dear friend whom I have known since the age of 6. I know that when I speak to her I can count on her to listen and to care. She knows me like not many other people do, because she walked beside me for a number of years in school. She came from a family of 5 children while I was an only child. I was amazed by the noise and the interactions between the brothers and sisters. We loved going to each others houses because of the fact it was so very different from our own. We remember each others birthday, we call every now and then to make sure the other is doing okay (we live in different cities). Its nice to know that someone out there, aside from family, who knows the real me. I recently shared with another long time friend that I may be requiring surgery, perhaps in the Fall. She immediately offered to go down to Vancouver with me, so that I would not be alone and to help alleviate the stress on my Mom by allowing her to stay in Vernon. Only a good friend would make such a kind offer. I have known this person since 1975 when we both lived in Regina as young married women with babies. Our lives have changed radically since then, our children are grown and we are now both living in the Okanagan. I felt so cared for when she made this kind offer. It is my belief that having and being a good friend is very important in life. Most challenges and stressful situations can be overcome if someone is there to soften the fall, help you get up, listen and assure you that you are not going crazy, tell you that you are valuable, compliment you on being you and generally be kind and gentle toward you. Their words and actions can help you to feel worthwhile as a human being. Friendship is a self-esteem builder and can be a stress reliever as well. As Henry Ford once said, “My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.” In todays seemingly speeded up world, we dont seem to have as much time to nurture friendships. We are all rushing from one place to another and not taking the time to notice our fellow human being. No wonder we feel stressed, we are missing an important ingredient. Human interaction. That wonderful and very valuable time where we stop using our working brain and switch to our hey, how ya doin? brainand allow ourselves to wind down and just connect with others. Have you got a friend you havent connected with for a while? Stop what your doing. Put the paper down and call them. Its important. Ive got a few on my list that Im about to call. Basic Nutrition Advice That Everyone Needs To Follow

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Gregg Hall Many people have a problem reaching goals they have in their diet and exercise program simply because they are not knowledgeable about basic nutrition. If you are trying to lose weight you should know that reaching your weight goal is simply a matter of burning more calories than you take in. You should also be concerned with improvement in your overall health at the same time, which is why having good nutritional skills are so important. Poor nutrition can lead to higher risks for of a variety of health problems including heart disease and cancer. You need to eat a balance of healthy foods and watch your caloric intake at the same time. A proper diet reduces cholesterol, blood pressure, and aids in weight loss. For optimal body function you must eat the right combination of nutrients. One of the most important of these, contrary to some popular diets, is carbohydrates. They are used to create glucose which can be used right away or stored to use later. An over abundance of carbohydrates will cause your body to store the extra glucose as fat. Carbohydrates are broken into two categories, simple and complex. Sugars fall into the simple category, while starches and fibers are complex carbohydrates. Protein is another crucial nutrient for your body; they help your body build and repair muscle and other tissues. They also function in the creation of hormones. Do not fall into the trap of eating excessive amounts of protein, like carbohydrates, excess protein is stored as fat. The two main protein sources are animal and vegetable. You need to avoid a high consumption of animal protein because too much of it can cause high cholesterol due to the high levels of saturated fat. Your body must also have a certain level of fat intake. Fats are classified in two categories, saturated and unsaturated. Saturated fat is the bad kind and puts you at risk of health problems. Unsaturated fat is healthier, but if it is refined, it can become saturated fat. Vitamins of course are also on the list of required nutrients. All vitamins perform different jobs within the body and work with your body’s metabolism to increase energy levels. Many studies have proven that certain vitamins can also prevent disease such as vitamins A, C, and E, also called antioxidants, which assist with the prevention of coronary artery disease by helping to prevent plaque build up on artery walls. Your body also needs minerals and trace elements which are used in many different body processes. Chlorine is essential for digestion, calcium and phosphorus are essential for strong bones and healthy teeth. Your body also needs salt, but not more than 2400 milligrams per day, as it can increase your blood pressure. Make sure that you eat food as close to their natural state as possible and avoid excessive amounts of animal protein. Eat at least two cups of fruits and two cups of vegetables daily and drink a gallon of water spread out over your day. Gregg Hall is an author living in Navarre Florida. Wedding Party Responsibilities, or Who Does What?

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Dawn Arkin When planning your special day, one of the things you have to decide is who will stand up with you during your vows. Your closest family members or friends are usually asked to be part of your wedding party. But what can they do before and after the ceremony to help things go well? There aren’t any set tasks for the bride and groom’s attendants to perform. But there are things they can do to help the happy couple’s have a special and memorable wedding day. The Bride’s Attendants Maid of Honor This honor is usually given to the bride’s closest friend or family member. She is the one who has known the bride through the ups and downs of life. Here are some of the things your Maid of Honor can do to help you prepare for your special day. 1. Help address and mail the invitations. Even a small wedding can have many invitations and helping to organize the guest list, prepare the invitations for mailing and addressing them will go a long way to make things easier. 2. Help the Bridesmaids get to their dress fittings and be sure they are at the wedding on time and dressed properly. 3. Help the bride get ready for the ceremony and keep the best man informed of any problems the bride or bridal party might be having. 4. Holds the bride’s bouquet during the ceremony and helps arrange the bride’s veil and train after the ceremony. 5. She stands in the receiving line and sits at the brides table. If the bride changes clothing before leaving for the honeymoon, the Maid of Honor should help her. Bridesmaids If your ceremony is big enough, you will probably have Bridesmaids along with a Maid of Honor. While they can help the Maid of Honor out as well, here are some other things they can do to make the day run smoother. 1. Running wedding related errands for the bride, address envelopes, and help out before the ceremony. 2. Serving the guests the wedding cake when it is cut. The Groom’s Attendants Best Man As with the bride, the Best Man should be the groom’s best friend. There aren’t any set jobs for the Best Man to do, but there are things he can do to help out. 1. He arranges the stag party and makes sure the groom makes it home afterwards. 2. The Best Man can help the groom make decisions for the ceremony, help select the ushers and instruct them in their takes and he picks up the groom’s tux before the ceremony. 3. He helps the groom get ready and makes sure the rest of the groomsmen are also ready to go. 4. He escorts the Maid of Honor down the aisle. 5. He holds the rings and stands on the groom’s side ready to hand the rings over at the correct moment. 6. He can help by making sure the rental outfits are collected and returned on time and he can also be in charge of making sure the hired help and minister are given their payment envelopes. Groomsmen The Groomsmen have the responsibility of making sure the guests are seated on the proper side, and where they should be. They escort the bride and groom’s parents to their seats and basically make sure the guests know where they should be during the ceremony. 1. They walk down the aisle with the Bridesmaids and makes sure they are where they should be during the ceremony. 2. They stand on the groom’s side, behind the Best Man. After the ceremony, they escort the Bridesmaids down the aisle and out of the church. 3. The Groomsmen can also help by running errands for the groom, and helping the best man make sure everything runs smoothly. 4. The Groomsmen should make sure no one plays a practical joke on the happy couple. While these are not set in stone tasks, they are some of the things each member of the wedding party can do to make the bride and groom’s wedding day special and hassle free. Why You’ll Get Scammed On Your Wedding Day

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Terrica Skaggs Lets face it. Weddings are highly emotional, high-stake, super-sensitive, family-oriented gatherings. I know that surely two days into your planning, you have discovered that. Unfortunately, the unscrupulous are privy to this information as well. What does that mean for you and me? Together, we have to sort through the shady vendors and clauses and come outunscathed for your beautiful wedding. But lets say you dont have the assistanceof a wedding consultant (gasp!). Here are some sure fire indicators that you canbe had, and how to avoid them. You beg or whine. Sounds ridiculous, but its true! Weve seen them on Bridezillas and other reality shows. The brides that lose all sense of sanity, decorum and tact. You may as well have a red dot on your head. Begging and whining may have worked with your parents, and may even win an argument with the future husband, but this is business. This only makes you appear desperate for anything. You say (subconsciously) that you will pay any price, go to any length, and exhibit any behaviour necessary to get what you want. While it isokay to feel this way, do your best not to show it. If your reception site isnt availableon the day you want, either change your date or venue. If your florist has strict policies against using certain pieces in his arrangements, find a new florist or compromise on new arrangements. You move too fast. We all know the saying, Good things come to those who wait. If a vendor says to you, This is a popular date or month, more likely than not, they are telling you the truth. However, resist the temptation to sign a contract immediately to secure your dream site or band. Unless you have done your research, are knowledgeable on comparable pricing or are satisfied with the level of service you will receive, think it over. If you show an immediate blind rush, you say, The mere thought of a threat to my dream wedding day sends me into a frenzy. Instead, talk it out with your fianc, mother or wedding planner. Do you get a good and secure feeling when dealing with the vendor? Can you see yourself being satisfied with their service or product? If so, sign on! If not, ignore the pushy sales tactics and ask other questions until you can make a sound decision. You dont read. Remember the national literacy campaign ad stating Reading is fundamental? Its not only fundamental in this business, it is mandatory. Contracts are staples in this industry in place to protect you and the vendor. It in essence says, Im going to do what I say Im going to do, and you are going to do what you say you are going to do. You are bound to the contract just as much as the vendor. If you do not understand or agree with something, speak up before you sign! Payment schedules, services, overtime fees, cancellation/refund policies should be spelled out and explained to you prior to your endorsement. You risk breaching your contract, losing money and a service if you do not adhere. It is too late to ask questions or refuse to pay after the contract has been finalized. Moreover, pay attention to all of the clauses. Do they sound fair? Does your contract have an escalation clause? Some vendors, mainly reception sites, have clauses that say if youbook your event far ahead that you agree to pay their future prices instead of the prices available at the signing of the contract. How do they obtain these figures? Most vendorsconsult the CPI, Consumers Price Index, to see what inflation rates will be in the next few months or years. You are argumentative, immatureand ungrateful. …formally known as a Bridezilla. Refrain from temper tantrums: yelling, cursing, threatening is not the way to get your vendors to respond the way you want. As much as it means to you, your wedding is not the only wedding that is happening. Your vendorshave other clients too! You risk intentional damage, shoddy workmanship and service. By no means is this acceptable for a service or product you for which you have paid. But remember, vendors belong to a tight wedding network. You dont want the photographer that youve been drooling over to turn your business away because he has heard aboutyour unpredictable and rude behaviour. Youre a pushover. If you ask for a proposal from a vendor within your price range and instead, you get something that equals the national deficit: Houston, we have a problem. You want to work with a vendor who not only possesses creative genius but is also willing towork within your budget. If your vendor refuses to meet you at your level or makes you feel inferior for even asking, thank them for their time and exit stage left. Remember, this is your wedding, and you hold the checkbook. While they have the professional experience to meet your needs, you hold the purse. You know your financial limits. Dont sign a contract without a clue as to how you will pay for your service or product. Who wants to start a marriage in debt? When you cave easily, you leave yourself openfor future pressure tactics and manipulation. This may be the only wedding you will ever plan so be smart! Dont get scammed! These examples are not to say that all vendors are bad, or vendors who do use these tactics are shady. The key is to get you in tune with the cues that could leave you openfor misinterpretation. This may be the only wedding you will ever plan so be smart! Surround yourself with great vendors and do your research. Ask someone to look over your contracts your wedding planner will be able to decipher which clauses will protect you and which could be to your detriment. Always take someone with you on vendor visits: your wedding planner, your mother, your maid of honor, etc. They maycatch a detail that you may have missed which might be crucial to your decision-making process. All in all, enjoy yourself! Planning your wedding should be fun and stress-free. Terrica Skaggs is the principal wedding consultant forOnce Upon Your Wedding. All Coin Dealers are Not Created Equal

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Charles Roman How to Select a Coin Dealer for Your Coin Collection Why do I Need a Coin Dealer? It is very difficult to build a collection of rare coins without a connection to a good coin dealer. If you are an investor hoping to make a profit with your collection of rare coins, building relationships with good coin dealers is vital to your success. If you are interested in making the highest profits possible with your coin collection, you will need to find a merchant partner who is experienced in the specific rare coins that interest you, and who will sell them to you at a good price. Most coin dealers will charge a lower premium on the sale of coins to their best customers. After all, it makes good business sense to get the most profit possible from a person who will do business with you only once. If you have a long-term relationship, however, the margin does not need to be as high for the coin dealer to make a good profit. Because coin dealers are experts in their chosen fields, they will also have better connections than individuals who buy coins on their own will. Finding the right vendor or wholesaler can be a long and difficult task for someone new to the coin collecting trade. Coin dealers will also be more likely to recognize a counterfeit coin, have a higher chance of hearing about the sale of the specific rare coins that interest you, and will recognize an asking price that is over- or undervalued. As an investor, these are all critically important points for your success. Building a long-term relationship with a knowledgeable coin dealer is the best way to protect the money that you invest into rare coins. All too often, new coin collectors who try to go it on their own without professional help end up being scammed out of hundreds or thousands of dollars. What Do I Look For in a Coin Dealer? All coin dealers are not created equal, and it is nearly impossible to specialize in every area when it comes to collecting rare coins. Therefore, it’s important to know what to look for before you select a professional for your coin collecting needs. The first vital piece of information that you’ll need when considering coin dealers is his or her professional qualifications. Some important questions to ask include, does the coin dealer belong to any professional groups? How long has he or she been in business? Can the coin merchant provide references from other satisfied customers? One of the best indications that a vendor has a high level of professionalism is a membership in the Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG). This group includes the most reputable coin dealers in the business thanks to an emphasis on ethics. The second most important question to put to a prospective coin dealer is the area in which he or she specializes. There are so many different kinds of rare coins to collect, ranging from gold bullion coins to ancient Roman coins, that it is impossible to be a true expert in all of them. You’ll want to find a merchant that specializes in the particular area that is of interest to you. A trader might be able to recognize every rare American coin at a glance, but that won’t do you a lot of good if you really want to collect legal tender from medieval times. Finally, you should consider the motivation of the coin dealers you are considering. A highly motivated coin merchant will go to shows and retailer auctions, keep abreast of current prices and trends, and will generally keep up-to-date with the current coin market. Any investor will recognize the impact of current information on profit levels. A coin trader who is highly motivated will also be more likely to provide you with excellent service and the best rare coins. Once you have selected a coin dealer, it is important to reward him or her with your loyalty. You are likely to get the best prices and service from coin dealers who know that you are working exclusively with them. How I Lost 51 Pounds In 4 Months Using The Simplest Diet Plan In The World

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Adam Minsky Like many people I’ve been on dozens of diet plans over the years ranging from Atkins to South Beach to Weightwatchers to Jenny Craig and lots more besides. In fact, I’ve eaten enough cabbage soup to satisfy a small country! I’m 5 feet 10 and I used to weigh 230 pounds and needed to lose a good 50 pounds to get myself in some short of shape. And then it hit me. It’s seems so logical now and so simple but I had ignored the simplest weight loss solution of all. Here’s how I discovered it. I was over in the UK on vacation and saying with an Aunt. We were having tea together and my Aunt was watching her favourite daytime TV show called “Today with Des and Mel.” The host, a rather charming guy called Des O’Connor was being asked how he stayed so trim and slim and indeed virile at aged 70 (he had just once again become a father) and he gave me the simplest weight loss solution I have ever heard. In fact you’d be seriously challenged to find a fitter and more vibrant looking 70 year old anywhere on the planet. Des’s answer was that he only eats one meal per day in the evening, and in fact eats as much as he wants at that one meal sitting. During the day he may well graze on a bit of fruit and naturally drinks plenty of fluids but he swears by the plan and has done for over 40 years. This seemed so simple and ridiculously easy and I was very doubtful whether it would work for me. However, it’s based on pure logic. By missing out on significant calories during the day, the body makes up for it in the evening and then stores up calories to keep you going the next day until your evening meal. However, I’m no scientist or doctor and I’m only interested in results. Here’s how it worked for me. Week One was a little challenging. I did nibble on the odd cookie to keep me going with my morning black coffee. I missed the social aspect of lunch but contented myself with knowing that I was doing my health and body a huge favor. In week one I lost 6 pounds and in the first month 15 pounds dropped off my body! However, having been on many diet programs over the years I was worried it could all come back. With this in mind I started a gentle walking program in the evenings after my meal of the day and this really helped me with my energy levels. I really didn’t want to visit a gym or stress myself by running. I was eating everything I wanted in the evenings, including ice cream and lots of ribs and fries etc. However, after the first month my body seemed to start regulating itself and I didn’t seem to crave these heavy rich foods as much. I think my body started to learn that it needed to eat well and wholesome in the evenings so it could get through the next 24 hours. In month two I dropped another 13 pounds. In month three I lost a further 12 pounds and in month four another 11 pounds making for a total weight loss of 51 pounds in FOUR months. Truly amazing. I’m still staggered by it. I don’t recommend this plan for life and have slowly reintroduced a healthy breakfast and a very light lunch. It’s a truly great plan for losing excess weight quickly though - and works like nothing I’ve ever tried before. One year on and I’m still at my target weight of 180 pounds. I still do my walking exercise most evenings and feel 1000% better with loads more energy. I’ve recommended this plan to dozens of friends and I have to say it’s worked for 90% of them. Give it a shot, the odds are that it’ll work great for you too! Check with your doctor first though to be safe. Why this Article Can Make or Break Your Wedding

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Yolanda Nash You have done all of your major planning for your wedding but still you are worried about your wedding day. Your asking yourself will my wedding guests have fun? Will my wedding be the talk of the town? Most of all, will I enjoy myself? Well, if you are not sure then you are not the only one. This is pretty common among brides. Read on if you are one of those brides that is not sure. The key to having an amazing wedding is to start as early as possible. When I mean early I mean at least a year or so. When you start early you can get a lot of great deals and have an amazing extravagant wedding that you have always dreamed about. Read further and I will show you how to do this. To plan or not to plan If you are deciding to hire a wedding planner make sure to ask for references of other weddings they have planned, ask how many events and weddings they have done and ask how long they have been planning weddings and events. Also you should go out to lunch or dinner with the planner. Going out to lunch or dinner allows you a chance to get to know them and make sure that your personalities mingle well. If you and your planner do not mesh well than you might as well forget it and go on to the next one until you find the right planner for you. Most of all when you hire the planner get everything in writing that is critical to the planning of your wedding. Party before the party Before you arrive at your reception make sure your guests are nice and comfortable before you arrive. Play soft mellow music in the background and have some nice little snacks for everyone to enjoy. You want to make sure that you create a hassle free environment for your guests. You should consider having a couple of extra wait staff to help your guests with their drinks. Doing this makes your guests feel like you have really went the extra mile and they will feel like a vip at a celebrity wedding. Make up your own drink and feature it at the bar. You can feature your drink at the bar with a nice picture frame and signature mat. Write in the frame what the drink means to you and your guests can sign and let you know what they thought of it. Choosing a theme wedding Having a theme wedding is a awesome, fun and entertaining way to be sure you and all of your guests will have a great time. When picking the theme of your wedding ask yourself who you and your future life partner really are. Are you a more conservative person or an out going humorous person? What are your interests and hobbies? Is your partner a star trek fanatic and so on. Just be sure to have fun with your theme and try really hard to be unique and all your guests will remember it for a long time to come. Million dollar decor The decor of your wedding can be the most fun part of your wedding. Although, there can be a lot of set backs when playing with color, flowers, candles, lighting etc. If you do not do your decor correctly than you can have a really tacky mess. That is why I suggest going through a lot of different bridal magazines and start cutting out several pictures of some of the most eye catching rooms, halls, churches and whatever and wherever you see something really nice and elegant that will fit into your wedding. Use candles but no open flames, mirrors, flowers, sea shells, elegant chair and table covers and so on. If you have some money to play around with then get you some really nice lighting and some props to go along with the theme of your wedding. The main event, your food and drinks The food and drink is the main event for your guests. The food and drink can make or break your wedding so do not be skimpy. Quite a bit of your budget should be spent on the food and drinks of your wedding. This is the question you need to ask yourself. What would make your guests say ahh, crackers or shrimp? If your guests stomachs get full then everyone will be happy and have a really great time. Although, if your budget is tight then hiring a caterer might not be the route you want to go. Make sure wherever you are having your wedding at ask if you can bring your own food or if you have to use there caterer. If you can bring your own food then you can play around with your budget but just make sure your presentation is up to par. When presenting your food buy some really nice fresh cut flowers, candles, expensive looking napkins and napkin holders, elegant plated dinners or a nice clean and convenient buffet style serving area. Just remember picture yourself as the guest and you will have a better idea of how you should do some things. Assigned seating or not If you are not choosing to have assigned seating at your wedding then you first must have a safe and secure place for all of your guests belongings. You might want to hire a security guard to stand near the belongings to make your guests feel comfortable. If you do not have assigned seating and do not have a place for your guests belongings then often your guests will become uncomfortable. Imagine if they go to the bathroom and come back and find another group of people sitting around their table. So I really suggest that you have assigned seating this makes everyone feel comfortable and at ease. Reception entertainment When hiring a DJ or a band get everything in writing. Ask what type of music they currently have and make sure it fits in with your wedding. Ask about references of other events and weddings they have done and follow up on those references. Also make sure they do song requests this makes your guests get engaged with your wedding and more excited that they are playing their song. Most importantly though make sure your entertainment has a back up plan just in case the unexpected happens and you no longer have any music. Being social Be sure you are social at your wedding a make sure everyone is having a great time. Try to visit every table and ask if everyone is enjoying themselves and tell them to help themselves with the food and drinks. Also you might want to ask your entertainment if it is alright if you make a nice toast to everyone. In your toast you should make it personal. Point out some special guests and let them know what they mean to you. Most of all in your toast you want to let everyone know that you really appreciate them, when dinner will be served and that they can make special song requests or not. Family, friends and wedding party Your friends and family have taken the time out for your wedding and spent money right along with you. Be sure to go the extra mile for them. You can buy all of your wedding guests nice wedding favors. Wedding favors are little keepsakes of your wedding. Wedding favors can be personalized, theme related or very useful in some cases which is really nice. They will take these favors home with them and they will always remember your wedding day and the extra expense you went through to show all of your wedding guests that you appreciate them and what they have done for you. Buying the favors for your guests will make your wedding a celebrity style wedding in a instant. For your guests that have traveled a long distance to get to your wedding make sure they are taken care of too. Take them to a nice restaurant, have them a nice hotel room booked, let them stay at your house or buy them a really nice personalized gift. Doing so will show them that you really care and they will surely tell everyone how thoughtful and kind you are. Most of all remember this is your wedding and just enjoy yourself and try to have a great time no matter what happens. Yolanda is the owner of Yolandas wedding favors and wedding planner. I Hate Needles! Acutouch Is The Solution

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Eric Cho Afraid of needles? Never mind. Acutouch therapy allows you to enjoy the thrills of acupuncture without the discomfort of being pricked. Based on the principle of applying pressure to key acupuncture points, Acutouch therapy is similar to acupuncture minus the needles. This non-invasive therapy is a revolutionary approach and when used in conjunction with other therapies, has shown remarkable results. Acu-therapy focuses on balancing the bodys energy by gently tapping the finger tips upon key locations in the body. The underlying philosophy of all holistic healing procedures is that there is a natural life force that flows through all the organs in the body. When the flow of this force is thwarted or blocked, an external symptom appears. A disease is then diagnosed. When this flow is restored, the disease gets healed. Acutouch originated from the ancient healing techniques practiced in East India, Japan, Tibet and of course China and is deeply influenced by the principles of Buddhism. It is believed that every cell in your body is TOTALLY aware of how you think and feel. This bio-energy or life force penetrates deep into every organ and on the skin it flows through the capillary network. Acutouch seeks to restore the flow of this life force by removing any blockage. This is done by working on the pressure points in the capillary network. As with any holistic healing procedure, Acutouch also incites the body to heal itself and tries to garner the natural energy of the body to promote health. Acutouch uses the power of the fingertips to stimulate the flow of life force through the energy channels in the body. The practitioner has a high quantum of energy within him. By touching the patient, the practitioner passes on his own energy to the patient. Healing takes place in this way. Luckily for patients, Acutouch is very successful in treating pain. Acutouch can be used in conjunction with Acupuncture and anesthesia to reduce acute post-surgical pain. Moreover, Acutouch is used to treat a wide number of conditions, like: - Sinusitis - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - Nausea - Lower Back Pain - Osteo-artritis - Migraine - Asthma - Strokes Acutouch therapy is not a quick fix therapy. Depending on the nature and severity of the disease, the time taken for healing varies. As with any kind of holistic healing, whether it is Ayurveda, Allopathy, Naturopathy or Homeopathy, it is important to realize that healing is done by NATURE and not by the physician. Acutouch empowers home users to take charge of their own healing process. Since it is completely natural, it is free of any side effects and is one hundred percent safe, though the user may suffer some initial discomfort at the start of the therapy. This is just a healing crisis where sometime things have to get worse before they can get better. Acutouch and acupuncture are almost similar except for the technique. Since Acutouch is non-invasive, the patients acceptance of this therapy is better. The results are the same and sometimes even better than traditional acupuncture. This is a highly recommended mode of treatment for children as well as adults. Patients must remember to maintain the treatment to ensure total and complete recovery. Acutouch works on all kinds of ailments, especially those that result from the normal and natural wear and tear of your body system. Some dis-eases may need more time, while others get treated quicker. But a fix is always there. Marketing Hints and Tips -Increase Your Exposure and Customers

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Alan Boyer Marketing is about getting your products and services into as many hands as possible, and then encouraging them to come back. What are you doing to get your products/services into more hands? Do you know how many people MUST be exposed to you and your products to get the needed results and dollars that you want THIS very month? There is a simple formula to do exactly that that well discuss in another article. If you want that one, just ask. In the meantime, heres an idea to get you in front of a lot more people. Partner with other companies to get your products in other peoples hands. First, lets look at how much you are, or should be spending on marketing on a weekly and monthly basis. (Actually finding the number that you SHOULD be spending that ALWAYS generates the results you want and multiplies that return on investment is a whole different article. Check back with us on that one.) In any case, lets say that you should be spending $300 a week to generate $10,000 a week in sales according to your business plan. Are you in the mode of avoiding spending on marketing or in the mode of finding the best return on investment marketing method? Where should you be spending it to generate the best return for your marketing dollars? Just one suggestion goes like this (and you should have several going at once, not just one. This is a simple one.). Suppose you partner with other companies to give away that much in product. There are a lot of ways to do that. One is that your partner company puts a coupon in everything that he sells. The coupon is for either a gift certificate for your product or service, or an X% off. That makes your partnering companys customers extremely happy to do business with them, and at the same time encourages them to come to you to capture his gift or discount. There are several ways this could take place. 1) Gift Certificates: If you are actually giving a gift certificate, then give away through your partner company the a percentage of the amount budgeted for your marketing through gift certificates with one or more partering companies. The gift certificate probably would be a small purchase, would be something people really want and would come in to get, and if focused the right way a certain percentage would make an additional purchase. The partnering company might give away a gift certificate that is a percentage of his sale. 2) Discount coupon: If you are giving an X% discount on a purchase, then you can afford to give away an almost limitless amount, at least, as long as youve chosen the discount properly. If you have budgeted a certain percent of every sale toward the cost of marketing (by the way, do you do that?) then you can afford to discount it at least that much, or maybe more. I always look at every expense, including marketing as a multiplier. In other words, when I spend $1 on marketing, it should generate 10 to 50 times what I spend. When you look at it that way marketing is no longer an expense. It is an investment in more business. It changes our view to how many customers do you want to buy with this investment. 3) What would happen if you developed an additional strategy to encourage them to buy more when they are there, or something to encourage them to come back? When they come in, what would happen if you offer another discount, maybe on a bigger version of the original? You have a bigger sale. When they come in to collect their gift, make sure to collect their name and address, maybe their birthday, so that you can send them additional giveways, or discounts, or maybe give them a birthday present. Youve just captured a dedicated customer, someone you definitely want to always send marketing to. (NOTE: When sending marketing to cold customers a typical response rate is anywhere from 0.5% to 1% is typical, but 1% to 10% might is possible when doing it right. When sending to people whove bought from you that number could be increased upward by 10-20 times. So thats a way to increase your marketing response and return on your marketing dollar. This whole idea could be taken even further than just one company partnering with another store to give away the other companys marketing. A strategy to advertise the whole program could build those two companies, or even a whole neighborhood worth of business. What would happen if every company ran an ad that they were giving away XYZ with every purchase, or that all of the companies in the neighborhood were running a special to give away products. Wouldnt that encourage more people to shop the entire neighborhood? Are there certain companies, or stores, that complement each other? In other words people that shop a jewelry store might also shop a clothing store. They might even have bigger opportunities to share customers. What other stores in your neighborhood would be an ideal partner for you? As I said at the beginning, marketing is about getting your products/services into as many hands as possible. The more hands the better. Also collect names of those that come in and market to them on a regular basis. Its possible to increase your marketing results by multiples of 10 or more. This is just one of the many ways to reach more people. Five Common Marketing Mistakes of Expert Consultants

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

By Meredith Hamilton 1. Following general consumer-oriented marketing practices. When marketing your services to the legal community, you cannot promise results (”I’ll help your side win”) which is the entire foundation of general marketing! 2. Inconsistency in marketing materials. Your stationery, business card, brochure, website, etc. should be identical in style, format and wording. This establishes familiarity with your potential clients and promotes a professional image. 3. Not marketing at all. Marketing does not have to mean sacrificing your integrity or feeling like a used-car salesman. Marketing is simply communicating your qualifications and availability to your target prospects. Practiced according to the standards appropriate in the legal community, it can be a very dignified and effective tool. 4. Failing to communicate on a consistent database with former clients and prospects. You should be building a database of attorneys you have worked with, have received inquiries from, have met at networking events or know handle cases in your area of expertise. This list should be contacted regularly, at least four times a year, to build your image and keep you in the forefront. 5. Setting rates too low. If a prospect has never balked at your rates, they are too low. You earned your expertise - charge for it. Attorneys rarely choose an expert based on fees and value is often perceived to be greater when you charge a higher rate.
